A NEW laptop problem!

Posted on May 17th, 2007 at 7:06pm

First I had the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!, which I only had when my extra GB of RAM was installed.

Now it's developed a NEW problem.

It'll get hot, then hotter, then hotter again, then...it'll turn off. That's it. No restarting or anything, it just dies.

Damn you, Dave the Laptop.

Maybe Dave is revolting because he doesn't like his name? Lol.

Ahh Lirae thats rotten, I hope it never happens with my laptop lol!, mine gets hotter on the side when I use it for too long... but I think they all do that... can you get it fixed?

Ha. Lirae, I think I can safely say that you're hilarious. Now, suggestion:

I think that you should put Dave in a straight jacket...No....seriously. I think it would do him a lot of good. He might finally get the message and stop html-repressing you.

Haha, thanks for the advice :P

Ahh that always used to happen to my laptop, i've just gotten it back.. but i'm not turning it on lmao. I have a new toy :P

Have you cleaned the fans out? Mine always had loadssss of dust and that was the problem apparantly.. well according to the Toshiba "helpline" lol.

Anyways, hope you get that all sorted & keep up the good work with your site :D

I'm beginning to think that your laptop doesn't like you anymore, Lirae. Maybe Dave will start playing nicely in few days. ;)

Like I said in my old comment from your other blog, my laptop got REALLY hot and would just turn off automatically. Just put an ice pack underneath :p its what I did and it lasted longer :D

omg Lemme guess.. TOSHIBA!?

But hey, yeah open it up, unplug everything and use compressed air to clean it out :\

Also if your warranty is already gone, wouldn't hurt to take that small black square off under the hard disk =p and uh.. Laptop cooler ;p even one meant for a 15" is major improvements on a 17" LT.

It turns off to protect the CPU. It's overheating. Or.. Battery problems.

I posted this in glitter thread too

My mum's laptop kept flashing up with a blue screen and then it restarted and it was when it got really hot. Like your problems lol. Maybe it's the same laptop? haha. Hers is a blue toshiba. It's crap really and it's sooooo slow!!

Lirae, BSOD (blue screen of death) is caused by hardware failiure, i installed ram into my computer without using any software, i suggest installing go to control panel then find system then device manager and update the driver, it may work.
good luck!

Lirae commented on May 26th, 2007 at 2:21pm. (Permalink?)

My laptop is a(n almost 2 year old) HP.
The blue screen I was getting had something to do with my RAM and I know this because when I haven't got the extra RAM installed, I get no problems. When I have got the extra RAM installed, I get the blue screen. ;)

The laptop can stay on all day...if I have the windows wide open, it's not too hot outside and there's a breeze, lol. Otherwise the laptop'll turn itself off.
